WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.
The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that are used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They are purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Upgraders for items are available in many places, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting a new recipe. item upgrades for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through several methods, which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3 the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and some new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less, even in the event that they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced too, but it is only available once certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific upgrades to the level of an item. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the best equipment you have and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
