Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment using new affixes. They can also increase its stats base or add additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Usually items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas objects with strong bases, such as eth titans aren't affected much in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus, or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, dropped by enemies or received as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.
To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, players will have to select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be, as well as the necessary element or material required for the upgrade to take place.
There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which include gems, can be placed in any type of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are jewels that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding a Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and replaces glyphs with another glyph, the old one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, excluding inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in several fundamental ways. Gear is now categorized in tracks and each item is able to be upgraded a certain number of times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level however the materials required aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading upgrade costs across multiple items.
This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will enhance its capabilities. The amount of affixes available will depend on the item's class. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon that has a standard base will have no more than two affixes available for it and legendary armors can have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade will require an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete based on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item is not able to attain its maximum level The NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to another person and then re-infuse the item with another set of upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower chance of success.
Engineers may employ a level to measure the height of the building against an established point, such as an existing benchmark. This is known as a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are built to a high level of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a vital aspect of the game and can drastically improve an item's strength, damage, or other attributes. It is possible to do this through the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling is costly and should only be used in very rare instances.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which can be used to acquire tokens for rerolls. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the amount of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the level of filling.
In the past, certain upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats for your build more frequently than other items. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be a great or a bad thing, dependent on your needs and expectations from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may have a unique bonus that boosts the power of the item by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to the normal affixes. The more you improve a product, the better the chance of receiving a unique bonus.
The game also includes several sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on an item. This is a great method to add lots of power to a specific character without spending lots of money.
item upgrades prefer to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the early stages of the game. Rerolling is a method to get a more powerful character faster, allowing players to advance in the game and attain higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be organized in different ways. They can be of different dimensions, have no elements, or contain a single element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in several ways, including by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an extensive selection of set items that can be upgraded. Certain items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Armor sets that provide the highest defense value or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already large.
Set items can be upgraded to include specific procs that are useful for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Extraordinary Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).
Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items to par with the levels. For example, the Immortal King set has a large level range, from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower level items can increase their defense and improve their performance in terms of damage.
To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on their screen for their character. The item will be displayed with its features, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. For example the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the upgrade requirements for specific items.
Generally speaking, weapons and jewelry offer greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor.
