World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade
The upgrade feature for items allows players to increase the level of equippable weapons or armor. This boosts the stats of the item and may also include buffs or rerolls to an affix.
It is important to note that although you can upgrade magic and other common equipment, it is generally not worth it. Rare and exclusive equipment will soon surpass the standard equipment and upgraded magic.
Cost
The player must spend gold to upgrade an item. The cost of upgrading an item is based on the item's current status and the type of upgrade. For instance upgrading a weapon will typically be cheaper than upgrading armor, since weapons require lower levels of skill. The amount of Gold required increases as an item is upgraded.
Upgraded items will also have enhanced stats that can boost its performance in different ways. This could mean increasing the power of its attack, critical strike chance, or damage per second. The upgraded item can also give additional bonuses to the weapon it is equipped with. These upgrades can be used for a number of reasons, including to boost the overall strength of a group or individual unit. They can also affect the overall the gameplay.
Items can be upgraded at any item upgrader NPC in the game. In general, these NPCs are located in major cities or questing locations. You can also find upgrades for items by visiting dungeons that have high-level bosses. You can also talk to NPCs at the garrisons of your faction.
The World of Warcraft item upgrade system lets players improve the quality of their weapons, armor, and trinkets. The process is similar to the process of reforging gear in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor, but instead of using the appropriate currency players need to visit an NPC for upgrading items to complete the process.
Upgrades can be expensive particularly for weapons and armor. Depending on the upgrade track, each step up in level of the item could cost many Valorstones and crests. The total cost could be prohibitive for players who do not have the funds or are unwilling to grind them.
Fortunately, the game lets players play a reroll of an upgraded item by using an additional tool available in the items menu. This option allows you to replace the upgraded item with a level 1 version that has different bonuses. This can be useful to get better rolls on items which are already upgraded. However, it can also be a waste.
Requirements
The process of upgrading equipmentable items like armor, weapons and trinkets is to increase the item level. This boosts their stats and can make them more effective in combat. Players can upgrade their gear by spending the appropriate currency at an NPC that sells upgraders for items. However, players should be aware that certain upgrades have special requirements.
Initial upgrades only boost the effectiveness of the base item by one level. Later upgrades provide more significant boosts. For example upgrading a weapon from three to level six can increase the weapon's damage by two levels. A bonus stat will be added to the upgraded item based on its level. The bonus is a combination of a guaranteed substat and a randomly generated stat, which will vary from upgrade to upgrade.
A player can reroll an upgraded item by using a Reroll Token to exchange the upgrade for a new one. The new item will have a different set of extra bonuses, as well as a lower base item level. The rerolled item also has different requirements for dexterity and strength. It is important to keep in mind that the item rerolled does not have its original level or any of its wasted resources.
Rerolling upgraded items is only possible if the item was upgraded was Epic, Rare, or Unique. Extraordinary items can also be suitable for rerolling, however their original stats will be replaced with an uninvolved bonus. This means that rerolling an item that is Rare item will result in a Normal version the same type, while the rerolling of an Epic item will result in an elite version of the same kind.
Upgraded items can come with additional modifiers that can improve their performance and improve their stats. These additional modifiers do not come with the upgrade cost. They can be acquired by the questing process, purchasing them from the Trading Post or from other players. They can be earned through completing specific missions in the game.

(Dice 6 is dropped by monsters 21+, Giants and Bosses; Dice 12 can be found from Bosses). Additionally, you will require different amounts of Minerals and Erons.

Time is a major factor.
Items upgrades can be used to improve the stats of your equipment and ship without the need to level them. Upgrades aren't cheap, but they can be an effective way to increase your stats and not have to spend a lot of time fighting. It is important to understand the cost and benefits prior to making the investment of time or money.
Each upgrade boosts the item's base stat to a certain extent and also offers the chance of obtaining an additional substat. The random substat can vary from a modest increase to a significant boost. Concentrate on item upgrades that work best in the slot first. They will bring higher returns for your money.
You can check the time required to complete an upgrade by opening your inventory and selecting a weapon, ship, or accessory. The upgrade window will show the expected completion date and progress. In certain situations, you might be able speed up the process of upgrading by applying a Glyph.
It is also possible to salvage some or all of the upgrade components from an item by using a special high-tier salvage kit, which is offered by Black Lion Salvage and Ascended Salvage. However, this doesn't include legendary equipment or upgrades that can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor or by returning them to the appropriate Karma Merchant.
Rewards
Item upgrading rewards players with a number of items and currency. Every upgrade has a chance to grant an unspecified stat bonus. The bonus value is different for each upgrade, and is usually more expensive for rarer items. The Great Vault can be searched by players to determine whether an item is upgradeable. The search will also reveal whether the item is a certain tier and if the player could benefit from an upgrade.
In the process of upgrading the item will gradually advance to the next level, but won't always reach a fully upgraded bar. This process uses Growthstones and Sollant however there is the chance to achieve a fully upgraded item with only one cycle of growth. The more levels an item receives, the higher its stat boost and the more items it is able to upgrade to.
Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets in order to gain an attribute bonus, or a special effect, while the equipment is being worn. Some upgrade components also have cosmetic effects. Players can obtain upgrade items by crafting, buying from vendors or the Trading Post, looting, or as rewards. Players can also find upgraded items using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging with a high tier salvage kit. Glyphs that are placed on gathering tools can be freely swapped.
The player can transform an item into a different upgradeable item by selecting it and pressing the green button a reroll arrow. This will change the layout of the item window and allow players to select up to six items to "recycle". The item will be replaced with one of the level 1 items. Recycled items will not keep their current level or amount of resources used to upgrade them.
An item's maximum upgrade level is determined by its tier and the quality. Rare and Epic items can be upgraded up to level nine, whereas common items can only be upgraded to level six. Upgrades to items are added to the base statistics of the item which means that they will no longer increase after a specific point.
